About IN THE WAITING
In The Waiting: An Exploration For Cancer Patients And Their Loved Ones is a zine created for anyone who has experienced a brush with the disease. After sitting in many waiting rooms over the years during her Dad’s illness, and volunteering with cancer patients, she thought of a few exercises that could be fun to pass the time. It also includes cancer related resources, podcast and reading recommendations, and wellness links she found helpful during her own journey.
In The Waiting is a free resource made possible by a local artist grant from the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis. The first 200 copies were given to patients and families at Siteman Cancer Center.
All text, illustrations, and design by Rachel Helden. The first edition was printed by NJC Printing.

how to make your own zine
You can print the spread files double sided on 11 x 17 paper and construct your own zine! Just follow the directions in the video tutorial below. (You can also make this with 8.5 x 11 (letter sized) paper, your zine will just be a little smaller. Be sure to trim about a half-inch off of the top and bottom of the paper!)
